Berluda lies in the Schoemanshoek Valley, which forms part of a larger community that includes hundreds of disadvantaged households. Apart from alcohol abuse, there is also a high rate of unemployment, as well as abuse in many other forms, that children in this community often have to endure.
It is in the light of this context, that owners of Berluda, Piet & Laura Schoeman, saw the need to open a school, to try to serve the needs for these young children. Vreugdevoetjies Pre School Centre, was founded in 2013 and take care of over 100 children under 6 years of age.
Not only do they receive quality education, but the teachers also strive to serve as caring role models in an environment of acceptance & love. Many of the children are raised in fatherless homes and the need of a father-figure is high among these kids, especially the young boys.
We have been honored and humbled to be able to contribute in any way and to raise hope, together with our guests, by giving back to our community. We thank every guest that have contributed directly and indirectly through the years that we have been involved in Vreugdevoetjies Pre School Centre.
